Integrating Activity 2021

Being Indigenous in Canada is hard and for many Canadians they don’t know the struggle that The First Nations had once gone through and continue to go through. Dating back to the first arrival of the Europeans, where many changes occurred and the terrible effects it placed on all indigenous communities within Canada. Then, dating back to the present where the Culture is still being practiced, Elders having hope for their youth and them rising up from the past. They come together and fight for their people, land, water and everything they once had, they will get back.
As an Indigenous women myself going into the field of cinema, I observed the lack of indigenous representation. Which is why for this project my goal is to inspire and shine a light on my people, and offer a new perspective. I chose this topic because indigenous people are so strong and resilient which is very uplifting and shows the importance of having dreams for you or your community.
