Artist Statement

In my piece, The House on the Cliff, I explore the concept of the Self and its desires, and how the two can clash because of fear. The story revolves around a young man who is so wrapped in his own solitude, he uses it as armor. With a fear of vulnerability, as well as a longing for it, Milo likes to watch the world from a distance. But what he finds outside his home helps to shrink that space and pulls him in close enough to be seen. Although this is a work of fiction, my goal is to communicate that everything you want, truly is "on the other side of fear" . Jack Canfield
